When I say that TV Shows (and indeed movies) work really well on the iPod Touch, I don’t mean the technical aspects. I mean that the user experience is a very pleasant one.
Of course Apple know what they’re doing when it comes to making the TV shows on iTunes work.
I’ve not long returned from a holiday with my Wife and infant son. I took my iPod Touch loaded up with episodes of The West Wing (my fave show ever). Come 11pm my wife and son were tucked up for the night, but I’m a night hawk and I never get to bed before 2am.
I’d sit on the balcony, overlooking the pool, with a glass of my favourite tipple and watch a couple of episodes of West Wing. An excellent way to wind down a busy day while on hols.
Now, I mentioned this to my brother-in-law over the weekend and he questioned whether it worked well on a small screen. I told him that it did for me.
Then last night it struck me that it was almost identical to watching an episode on my TV at home. You see when I watch TV I sit about 8 ft from the screen. When I watched the iPod Touch I had it held about 1ft away. So the perception of screen size is almost identical.
Don’t get me wrong. I’ll not be throwing out the TV just yet, but interesting huh?
