Okay hands up those of you that just buy one of your favourite songs from iTunes, rather than go through your CD collection to burn it? I do it all the time, and each time I swear it’s the last… but it never is. Another 79p down the drain!

It’s not that I’m lazy, I simply can’t be arsed to dig out the CD, find the track and go through the burning process. Okay, maybe it’s because I’m lazy 🙂

Well, there’s a great service available in the U.S. provided by Riptopia. You box up all your CD’s, send them to  Riptopia and they’ll convert all the songs from your entire collection in to a digital format for you.

Depending on the size of your CD collection it could save days, or even weeks of your time, and aside from the time saving, they’re pro’s so you know your digital music will be top notch.

They return your CD’s along with a DVD data disk containing of your new digital collection that you can import to iTunes or upload to your mp3 player. Each DVD data disk can contain between 30 – 70 tracks.

Optionally, you can purchase a swanky looking Digital Storage Device from them and they’ll load your new digital music collection on to it. A 250GB DSD costs $129.

They charge $.99 per CD. A collection of 150 CD’s would cost $149. Which is great value, but they’re currently doing a special offer where your first 25 CD’s are done free.

Only questions I have are. Anyone providing this service in the U.K? I guess if you’re willing to pay the shipping via UPS, Riptopia will do it for you.
