AdMob Launch New iPhone Developer and Advertiser Tools

iTunes Chart - Updated DailyFree iTunes Every Week

AdMob, the Mobile Advertising Network has launched a load of new features for iPhone Webapp Developers and Native App Developers looking to monetize their iPhone sites, webapps and native iPhone apps.

Other than the fact that the sign up process is screwed up right now (you'll need to use Safari browser as it's bugged in MSIE 7), it certainly looks like AdMob have spent a lot of time and money developing the new features, but clearly not as much testing it out :)

It's all looks very impressive, but at first glance I have a couple of concerns from an iPhone publisher/developer perspective.

1. I don't have absolute control over which ad's are shown on my sites/webapps:

With the old AdMob system I could disable the 'Auto-Approve Ads' option so that I could approve or reject specific ads from showing on my iPhone Sites/Webapps. I'm not seeing this fuction in the new iPhone tools.

In the past, I have had issues with the quality of the ads being shown on my sites, so this feature was most important to me.

2. No 'New Advertiser Alerts':
I can go in a delete ads whenever I want, but because they have also removed the 'New Advertiser Notification' email alert option that was in the old system, this means I have to log in to AdMob more often and check for any new ads that have been added. Pain in the arse.

Well that's it for now. I'm taking a friend to get his iPhone. I'll be writing more about my experiences with the new AdMob iPhone Tools, when I get chance to dig deeper.
