ipTexter assigns a mobile number to your your iPod Touch. Using their webapp you can send and receive SMS text messages worldwide using your iPod Touch.
This is very simply, but incredibly clever stuff. You pay £7.99 or $16 per month for the mobile number, which acts just like any other mobile number for sending and receiving SMS text messages.
It costs you 5p or 10c to send a text message to any other mobile phone, anywhere in the world.
People can send you text and reply to your text. There is no charge to receive SMS texts from other mobile numbers.
It's a web based service requiring you to connect your ipod Touch to the internet via a wi-fi connection.
Why not just get an iPhone. :D But seriously, that is pretty neat. You could do outbound text messaging on it using AIM or Skype, but not inbound, so iptexter solves that. Thanks for the post.
