Let's not screw around. Let's get straight to the TV shows. Grab your iPhone and iPod Touch, get over to BBC iPlayer and have a dig around. A BBC iPlayer Webapp is available myijump.com/bbciplayer/. Just enter the URL in to the Safari browser on your iPhone or iPod Touch and you're good to go. The BBC iPlayer for the iPod Touch and iPhone is ONLY available in the UK. Because of DRM (Digital Rights Management), the BBC iPlayer for iPhone and iPod Touch is ONLY available to users in the UK. This is important because, for example, The BBC can't sell the rights to Top Gear around the world, if people can watch the show via the Internet. BBC iPlayer iPhone Limitations To play BBC programmes on your iPhone or iPod Touch, you'll need to be online via a wi-fi broadband connection (the iPhone's EDGE connectivity is too slow for streaming video). There's a great article by Anthony Rose (Head of BBC iPlayer): BBC iPlayer On iPhone: Behind The Scenes See also: Filed under: Featured | Free iPod Stuff | iPhone | iPhone Webapps | iPod Touch | iPod Touch Webapps | UK | Comments (4) About: apple, apple iphone, apple ipod touch, bbc, bbc iplayer, iphone, iphone iplayer, ipod touch, ipod touch iplayer |

nice, but it would be more useful if we could add it as a square button like maps, weather, safari etc.

John
They'll not make the BBC iPlayer available outside of the UK. It's an issue of both rights management and commercial licensing.
The actual producers of the programmes have placed strict commercial restrictions on making the shows available outside of the UK. For example, one of the BBC's biggest revenue earners is the Top Gear tv show. They make millions from selling the shows to broadcasts/tv channel around the world. These broadcasters/channels won't pay for them if they're made available to their audiences over the internet.
