Ultimate iPod Touch Screen Protection

Iv_isfbsiptI thought it was about time I got my son an iPod Touch. He's 15 now and it's his 3rd third iPod model. The first was a basic iPod and the second was the 160gb iPod Video (now called iPod Classic). You should see the state of the screen on the iPod Video! Scratched doesn't describe it. I have visions of him walking around with a bunch of nails in his pocket.

So, naturally I planned to give him a lecture on the importance of looking after the screen on the iPod Touch.

When I bought it, the chap in the Selfridges showed me the invisibleSHIELD on a demo model they had in the shop. He even ran a door key over the screen. Not a mark. Very impressive. I bought one for both mine and my son's iPod Touch.

Here's what the manufacturer of invisibleSHIELD has to say...

Made from a urethane film originally used to protect the leading edges of military helicopter blades, the invisibleSHIELD is clear, durable, and virtually scratch–proof. The invisibleSHIELD is precision cut to fit your iPod Touch, giving it perfectly contoured protection that other screen protectors can’t match.

The protection provided by the invisibleSHIELD is unique, not only in the way it keeps your device from getting unsightly scratches, but also how it doesn’t add any bulk or obscure the sleek aesthetic design of your iPod Touch.

If your invisibleSHIELD ever becomes scratched or otherwise damaged while protecting your device, don’t worry, all invisibleSHIELDs are backed by a lifetime guarantee.

The invisibleSHIELD includes two pieces of urethane film, a small spray bottle of clear liquid and a small squeegee and comprehsive instructions.

To be honest it all looked a little fiddly. There was no way I was going to get the slick fitting that the demo model in the shop had, but anything protecting my screen was better than nothing.

I couldn't have been more wrong. Fits like a glove. Brilliant!

The instructions were clear enough. As for the spray, it's used to ensure that I didn't have finger prints on the sticky side of the invisibleSHIELD. The squeegee was used to remove small bubbles and any excess liquid. I left it over night and it looks great.

I had planned to post a photo of my iPod Touch with the invisibleSHIELD fitted, but the flash on myt camera massively over emphasised the fact the invisibleSHIELD is slightly reflective. It definitely doesn't impact on my use of the iPod Touch, and I imagine that the iPod Touch screen without an invisibleShield is quite reflective when using flash photography anyway.

I highly recommend that any iPod Touch owner gets their hands on a one. The invisibleSHIELD is also available for the iPhone and most current iPod models.

In the UK you can get your hands on one at iWorld.co.uk for £15.99. In the USA, get it straight from the manufacturer at invisibleSHIELD for iPod Touch for $24.95
